THE DICK EMERY SHOW

Well I'm not shy of a hard days work but...BLIMEY yesterday was hard!!!! it was also hilarious, Ricky and Jamie were like Dick Emery and Son....."Here Dad I think I've done it wrong again" "You stupid boy"!!!
We had to take up all the laminate flooring just to turn it round the other way, so it doesn't even look any different, but I will be asking everyone to PLEASE say "Oooh what a lovely floor" just to make me feel better.
I am now rather good at laying floors so if anyone wants any floor laying done I'm available on a Monday!! I'll not be bringing Jamie though as his measuring skill are awful, we've got loads of offcuts if anyone wants them!!!
Back there again today, putting up more slat wall and moving the counter, ect. I'm looking at it all at the mo and thinking OMG why did I start this, but I won't say it loud as Ricky would shout back "I told you so" and we never want to let the men be right, do we!
Oh, by the way I've found sooooo much stuff that I didn't even realise I had, so if I didn't know I had it then I won't miss it!! There's been a few damages as well, so we'll be doing a ONCE LOVED and SLIGHTLY DAMAGED SALE. I'll let you know ASAP re the date on that.
Hope everyone had a great crimbo and I wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR.
See you in January xx

It's more likely to be a workers belt and builders bum!!! PHWOAR!!!
I would like to wish you all a very MAGICAL CHRISTMAS
THANK YOU ALL for your continued SUPPORT

NO MORE PICCY'S.......

.....only tears.....BOO HOO, we're coming home, BUT the GOOD NEWS is our flight is delayed 3 hours so we've got 3 more hours of sunshine to soak up before we get back to wet and dreary ENGLAND. THANKS SOOOOO MUCH AMANDA, the fact that our flight is delayed and we haven't had to vacate (oh that sounds so American) the house at 11 am has been a god send.
We've had THE MOST FUN and some fantastic FOOD and some rather nice CHEESECAKES as well.
Jamie and Nicky left a day before us and I can only assume that they are home safe and sound as, I suppose, with most 18 year olds they forget to let you know!!! Don't worry Jay I'm only your mother!!!!
We managed to pack in the parks all last week, good really as the schools were off this week and they became really busy, got quite a bit of shopping done and have relaxed for the last few days, so now I feel really chilled out.
See you all soon in CHILLY ENGLAND. Love to all xx

NOT LONG NOW......

.....Till we have to return home.....BUT we will come back with so many great memories, we've had such a brilliant time and whilst I have missed all of you, I haven't missed the stress of work, this has been a complete chill out!!! THANK YOU to all you girls holding the shop together and doing such a great job and SPECIAL THANKS to my MUM, she's a real star!!!!!
Ricky celebrated his 44th birthday out here so we went to the CHEESECAKE FACTORY (god we love that place)!!! and they all sang happy birthday to him
What is it with 18 year old boys that they have to pull a funny face!!!

All the boys went SHOOTING the other day, I've already done that in Las Vegas, I'm quite a dab hand with an OUZI !!! they all decided to fire revolvers and were pretty damn good, Luke rather liked the look of the MAGNUM although I don't think Nicky was too impressed.
We're off to relax at Aquatica today, sorry not meaning to rub it in but it is lovely out here and we may as well make the most of it.
If anyone is coming out soon the bad news is the dollar/pound isn't so great and therefore things don't seem that cheap, although I think we got spoiled in Chicago in July at 2 to the Pound, but the good news is that petrol (gas) has gone down by 30 cents in the two weeks we've been here, so obviously we can only assume it's gone down back home as well LOL!!!
Met the owner of PIKTALES the other day (sorry I've forgotten your name already) bloody dementia!!!! anyway she's LOVELY so if you're coming out pay her a visit, very easy to find, she's in Hunters Creek. She's got some really nice bits in there.

HAVING FUN FUN FUN !!!!

I'm not rubbing it in but we are having a GREAT time.
The boys went golf the other day so the girls went....... SHOPPING, of course and then we had a pedicure

We went to the mall at Millenia, let me tell you it puts Lakeside in the shade, it's one of the nicest Malls, very POSH. Took a piccy of the christmas tree with some of us standing under it, just so you can get an idea of the size.....It's MASSIVE
We've also popped into Celebration, this is such a lovely little town, Desperate Housewifes rings a bell, very Wisteria Lane

Hey what's going on with the website, we've never had so many orders in such a short space of time!!!! Thanks GIRLS for all your help!!! Sorry I didn't leave enough envelopes ect.
It's good to know you're loving our stock, THANK YOU!!!
There's been some exciting deliveries while I've been away, so I'm looking forward to seeing it all and saying "oh yes I remember ordering that now" and getting it on the website.
Off to feed my face now, more later xx

THE STORY SO FAR

Well it's been a few days since the last blog, that's because we've been BUSY!!!!
We went to the new water park AQUATICA, it's really lovely, it looks like they've bought in loads sand from the early learning centre, it was lovely, the rides were great.
OOPS I DID IT AGAIN..... got burnt that is, but this time i forgot to take a photo and it's not so bad now.
Jamie and Nicky joined us on Sunday, they've been to Disney and Universal and whizzing round the parks as there are just no queues. WONDERFUL !!!
We went to Seaworld on Monday, again no queues!! Sorry forgot my camera again.
We're off to Macy's today as they've got a big SALE on, so we'll see what's on offer then I think we're off to GATORLAND (very touristy) and then maybe the CHEESECAKE FACTORY, well I bliming hope so anyway.
Right off to have my morning bagel now and cup of English tea (we bought out PG Tips)

WELL WE'RE HERE !!!!

Hi all
Well we made it, after a rather noisy (screaming kids) and smelly (pooey kids) flight we got here and WOW how lovely is this house

We've stayed in a few houses in Florida and this is by far the best, it's absolutely amazing and soooo large I WANT ONE !!!!! We got a tip off by Amanda (the lucky girl who's mum and dad own this) to grab the downstairs bedroom, there's 5 in total, and well, the bed is soooooo big I haven't seen Ricky at night for three nights now!!! The whole place is stunningly furnished the kitchen is ginormous and there's absolutely everything that you could need. I also want a top loader washing machine and a much bigger kitchen with central island, that's not tooooo much to ask, is it? I would certainly recommend this house, it's also really conveniently located for all the attractions just contact amanda on http://www.yourtouchofcraft.com/ and treat yourself.
We went to Universal Islands of Adventure on Friday and I got coerced into going on the Incredible Hulk ride. Now I should have remembered what it was like last time, and it hasn't changed, it's still blimming SCARY!!!!, I must have been a lemming in a past life!
The sun was glorious the temp was 84 degrees so we went on the water rides and there are warnings that you'll get wet and we were like yay that don't matter it'll probably just be a little bit, well after the first ride "Dudley Doo-Right's RipSaw Falls" WE WERE SOAKED!!! completely, drowned rats probably looked better than us as they don't wear mascara!!! So then we went on the Popeye one (can't remember the name) and this completely removed any traces that were left of our mascara, I must stress the boys were not wearing any!! So off we get soaked to the skin (by the way I won the Miss Wet T Shirt contest!!) and the SUN WENT in, hey ho that's Florida for you. Off shopping today, more adventures in a couple of days.

What is it about going on holiday with a size 8 rather gorgeous, rather tanned young beauty that makes you soooo vain !!!! Hopefully she'll eat LOADS of burgers and fries out there and will have to ask to borrow some of my clothes. xxx

I'd like to say a great BIG CONGRATS to the lovely LISA who's about to be a mummy for the first time and the wonderful LORETTA who's about to be a nanny for the first time.
I'm typing this while Barbie and Marie are sitting at the door dressed as witches giving out sweeties to all the lilltle trick or treaters, I think this has been the busiest one so far...

Oh I almost forgot, Paula and myself were very busy today making up some gorgeous GIFT SETS, they make the PERFECT CHRISTMAS PRESENT, come and have a look and if it's not what you fancy, we'll make you up a CUSTOM one.

6 Weeks of fun!

Wow, Six weeks flew by! I am talking about the beginners course that has just finished. We had 2 groups of lovely ladies all eager to learn their new hobby. Some had done scrapbooking before but came along to learn some new techniques and some were complete virgins!
There were some complete light bulb moments, like when some of the ladies actually discovered that journaling was therapeutic and started journals to write all there memories ready for when they do their pages. There were also funny moments like when one of the Tuesday night ladies stitched her stitching template onto the page! Oh and who could for get those wonderful cupcakes that Sue baked for our last session - yum yum! Thank you ladies for being really super, you were a pleasure to teach. Don't forget to register on the web site and look out in your inbox for a update on the Off the Page course.
Now to the next 6 weeks of beginners which starts tomorrow......
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Love
Nina x

Apologies.

Sorry

I am sorry about the kits this month! What with all the excitement of Ally Pally and the packing and unpacking of all the new stock we have atm... October's kit is late. Marion did take them to the Make A Wish crop in Romford last Saturday, so if you brought one... thank you and you are a lucky bunny ;)

This months kit consists of all Autumnal themed papers and colours... if you like the cosmo cricket 'mr.campy' range, then you'll love this one! It has some funky textures going on too ~ from velvet to acrylic and then to cork. Yes, cork! Honestly you need this kit ;)

And as I am in the shop tomorrow... piccies will be posted. That is unless they are all sold out!

We are all busy designing our November/December classes too (keep your eyes peeled). Many of these will be good as Christmas gifts (or if you can't bare to part with them a little something for yourself :) ) The dates will be released soon! For those of you who are eager to do something now, we did have spaces avaliable on Marion's card classes that were previously full. Please pop into the shop or give us a call if you're interested. I am running 'You spin me round' this sunday afternoon... if you fancy a twirl and a go at this LO class. Nina is busy with her beginners, whom i've met/spoke to a few ~ we have such lovely ladies as our customers (and the few men we have who are lovely too) and her halloween treat box :) You can peek at our classes on our store site www.sugarandspicecrafts.co.uk , unfortunately to get full views you will have to pop into the shop. We are flatered to be copied but we don't want to make it easy

And just to finish with... have you all been watching (if you're not watching start! It's a funny look into family life...) The Family on Channel four on Wednesday nights??? I am loving it :) :) :) Even Kev is getting into it. Although it partly scares me as I kinda feel in 15 years time our house will be similar as we have a daughter called Emily and I know Kev will be shouting at her for coming and going at all hours ;)

See you all tomorrow! x

YOUR STAND MAKES ME FEEL SICK.........

With EXCITEMENT!!!! I want it ALL, was one comment of many from some of the fantastic shopaholics at ALLY PALLY.
It was an absolutely brilliant show, CREDIT CRUNCH ! what credit crunch???
If any of you are reading this THANK YOU for all your lovely comments, we put so much effort into getting the stand just right, it still amazes me how it takes us 5-6 hours to put it up and it comes down in 1.5 hours, but not without ALL the help I get, you GIRLS were FANTASTIC, SUPER, BRILLIANT and you made it such fun, even though I was a complete WIMP (THANKS BEV, BANANA FROG)! I got a wee bit ill on the Saturday and nurse Maggie MADE me take a bit of a rest in the car for half an hour, but I felt so guilty as the stand was PACKED nearly all day, sorry for those of you who couldn't even get onto the stand.
Sadly I still didn't feel good on Saturday night, so I didn't go out with the CTM girls, but our lot did and Oh! what a night I missed, but I'll not worry as one of the other girls got a video of some of the ACTION. I don't think I'll be putting it on here, let's just leave it at that.
HEY!!! I don't want to forget to say a great big THANK YOU also to MUM, NINA and POLLY for keeping the shop going while we were away, you're all STARS.
I'm still feeling rough but I'll be back in the shop tomorrow putting it all back together and bringing in some GREAT NEW STOCK, the new KAISER stuff is BRILL as is the new CRAFTWORK CARDS CHRISTMAS BITS and the pearlised cardstock is LUSH, you may come in and stroke.
I'll see if I can sort some piccy's out of the show in the next post.
I'll leave you with this last thought:-
Remember to keep the GERMS at bay and cross your legs when you sneeze!!

Then my card classes start the following week......
Oh boy am I looking forward to my hols in November !!!! I've just found out that the house we're staying in has internet access to I may just have to take my trusty LAPTOP and bore you all with piccy's from the SUNSHINE STATE, don't worry I won't be in a bikini.
Right I'm getting an early night as we've got a manic weekend ahead and lots of chatting to do, one of the lovely things with the shows is all meeting up, it'll be great to see Bev (Banana Frog) Vikki (Capture the Magic) Hah!! I spelt your name right !!! Amanda (Your Touch of Craft) and Sue and Julie (Craftwork Cards), in fact we're going out on the Saturday night with Vikki and her girls for an Italian, I have asked Vikki to be on her best behaviour as we do have a REPUTATION to think about !!!!!!
Have a great weekend everyone.

I have to confess that I am really quite excited about the new lot of classes coming up. I think they might be our best ever! I keep seeing peeks of what Polly is doing and Marion's card classes are getting booked up fast. Me on the other hand have a few tricks up my sleeve.... a birthday layout with super cute mini birthday bunting, a mini album to showcase your top summer photos, a spooky but sparkly spider web Halloween layout and a Halloween box for treats that you could make for the trick or treaters or maybe they are too yummy to give away!
All ideas are stored here....
This is my book of ideas, small enough to fit in my bag but big enough to sketch in. Do you have a book of scrapping ideas? If not start one today!!
Also another exciting class thing for me is the scrapbooking beginner course which starts on 20Th September. Oh to see those eager newbie faces again! Do they know they are entering in for a life time scrapping addiction?!

MORE MORE MORE.....

Just uploaded LOADS of new YUMMIES on the site so you can have a SNEAKY PEEK of what's on it's way, within the next week or so.
I'm loving the HAMBLY SCREEN PRINTS and the SCRAP WITHIN REACH papers are just gorgeous and as for the KAISER well.... it has probably been one of the most popular lines we've EVER HAD, there's just soooo many SCRUMMYLICIOUS products, I'll be adding more just to keep you salivating..
ANYWAY enough of work for just one minute...BIG BROTHER, it has got to be a fix, no offence to RACHEL but how did she stay in over STUART??? and that NICOLE....well she just needs a bloomin' BIG SLAP, I can't even think of one nice thing to say about her, so I'll say nothing at all.
Did anyone see X FACTOR on Saturday, how funny is that. In fact it was so funny that I had to watch it again on Sunday night, just to see the two brothers from Wales singing (allegedly) Misterious Girl, I get confused with my self as one minute I'm screaming with LAUGHTER and the next I feel SORRY for them.

Rooooolllls of Ribbon!

We have just this minute finished adorning our ribbon shelves with our gorgeous new ribbons... well, most of them (I secretly think that Marion has a ribbon fetish as she has bought soooo many new ones!)... ;)

We have finalised our class lists, projects to follow but the papers and ideas are all down on paper... You can see them on the shop site (www.sugarandspicecrafts.co.uk) and of course if you are interested in joining us do phone or pop into the shop and book! We would love for you to join us for a paper project or two and a few choccie biscuits.

The doodling class went amazingly well yesterday and we saw the most creative designs popping out. Thank you ladies for the fantastic class and the laughs... and lovely lemon yum-yums :) And a belated happy birthday to Jayne who was celebrating a certain special birthday. She kept us giggling with her little tales ;) Who is in your lust book?

And our new kits have been flying out of the door too :) So if you'd like one you'll have to be extra quick!

... hooray!

... I hear the new goodies are in ;) (lots of happy dancing here!) Hooray! After much waiting and frantic searching. I just can't wait to get into the shop tomorrow and have a good peek at it all IRL, rather than a catalogue ~ yes, it's all very lovely in a catalogue but nothing beats RL does it??

I also have the doodle half the day class running on Saturday, which still has spaces... you honestly don't have to be good at drawing. I have a fabby cheats way of doodling too. We show doodling on lettering, doodling using patterned paper as a guide and free doodling. The hardest it gets is drawing a heart and ladies I know you can all draw a heart :)

We are also coming up with fabby, brand spankin' new classes starting in September... So just keep a look out for our sneaky peeks. Pop into the shop for full reveals, once they are up here on the blog!

And of course we will be announcing all the new yummies coming into the shop which Marion ordered from CHA here too... ;)

A LITTLE BIT OF INSPIRATION

Hi, for those of you that have been lucky enough to get your hands on our NEW STAMPS here's a few examples that we've managed to do in our BUSY schedule. Time needs to learn to slow down. I should actually be a size 8 by now, but something went wrong on the way.

BAck to the grind!!!!

Well, I'm back and in the land of the living, actually got over my jet lag really quickly this time.
Have just heard that we should be getting all the NEW KAISER stuff in within the next 7 to 10 days. OMG where is it all going to go. The rest should arrive by the end of August, if not before !!!!
My new STAMPS have arrived and we've been playing with them today. I'll pop a few piccy's on soon, SORRY but I left my camera at the shop.
If anyone out there is watching BIG BROTHER can we all VOTE REX OFF pleeease..... he is sooooo annoying.
For those of you that voted for us in the CRAFT AWARDS last year, THANK YOU (we got runner up).... and HEY..... you can VOTE again, if you think we deserve it.
Ally Pally is sneaking up on us, it comes round so quick, maybe because it's 2 a year, DOH !!! So we're going to be getting lots of yummy samples ready for that.
I can see a really BUSY time ahead this next two months, so if you see any of us sitting in the corner and rocking, just come up and give us a HUG.

NEARLY HOME

It was our last full day today, the sun was shinning bright so we went .............. to the cinema!!!
We saw Journey to the Centre of the Earth, I'm assuming it was meant to be tounge in cheek, as it was sooooo far fetched it was UNBELIEVABLE.
Then we went........Shopping, this time to the WOODFIELD MALL, but apart from some shoes for Ricky, I much preferred the WESTFIELD MALL, had a lovely lunch in Ruby Tuesday's. I don't think I could dare ask Rick to take me to another shopping mall, I do believe he's all shopped out, he's been an absolute DIAMOND driving me all over the place and I really mean ALL OVER THE PLACE.
So we're about to start packing getting ready for our journey back tomorrow, and then it will all be over and I'll be in the shop on Sunday. It seems like ages ago that I was at the show, I've already had confirmation that one company has shipped out. Boy that was quick!!!
Thanks for sharing with me and see you all soon. xxx

A DAY FOR SIGHTSEEING

It started off really sunny and then just as we were about to go out the door it became overcast, made our way to downtown Chicago and went to NAVY PIER.
We were recommended to take the architectual tour or as I would call it the boredom tour, basically it's a boat ride that takes you through a part of the city looking at the buildings, ZZzzzz, ZZzzzz oops sorry I must having dropped off again, BUT it was a good excuse to sit and close my eyes and have a breeze blow on me, By the way by this time the sun has come out in FULL. Check out this piccy, you can even tell the necklace I was wearing, needless to say I'll be putting sun lotion on today.

We then went on to see Soldier Field the home of the CHICAGO BEARS (very impressive) and then to Wrigley Field the home of the CHICAGO CUBS (in case there's any men reading this)

Back homewards bounds (hotel) and to do a bit more shopping, Jane if you're reading this, I think I got you mag today. then obviously we needed some food, I should have bought eleasticated trousers with me. we went to the CHEESECAKE FACTORY and I had the best pizza EVER, Chicken with Pine Nuts, it was amazing, ricky had a lovely pasta dish followed by STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE for ricky and RASPBERRY & LEMON CHEESECAKE for me.

THANKS MUM, this one was on you. xxxxx

A DAY FOR SHOPPING

Well when I looked out of the window it looked a bit overcast and drizzly, so I convinced Ricky that we REALLY should go SHOPPING.

So off we went to Gurnee Mills, THANKS (VICKY, CAPTURE THE MAGIC) got some bits, bobs and bargains there, oh and had some JAMBA JUICE, also recommnded by Vicky.

From there we went to Michaels ( a bit like Hobby Craft) a SUPER TARGET and........ a HOBBY LOBBY. in all the years I've been coming to the US and all the States I've visited, approx 14 I've never found a HOBBY LOBBY, so I was well chuffed. again, thanks Vicky.
So we park the car and get a photo (see below) I have to hold myself back from running for two reasons really, one this body was not designed to run and two I needed to keep a bit of dignity if only for Ricky's sake. Get to the door and..... NO it wasn't closed, I know of you were thinking that ! BUT we only had 30 minutes before it did close !!!!! Managed to get a book for MAGGIE and not much else really, but HEY HO at least I've been now.

Weather looks really nice today so we're driving to Lake Michigan and we'll see where we end up from there.
I'll keep you posted........

Not long now....

....until normality returns to the shop and you get the fabby Marion back!

On Sunday I ran my first of two full classes... I hope you all enjoyed them ;) I cannot wait to see the different LO ideas Jayne comes up with! And to see them all with piccies in too. Thank you for being such wonderful ladies and bearing with my mad moments of panic as we sped through two classes full of stitching, cutting and ribbon. I think everyones jacobs ladders worked, didn't they??

I think we have spaces for Saturday still for Nina's two beautiful LO's 'All torn up' and 'Nature's Beauty'... I just need the pens for the cricut now! They are up in the shop so pop in and have a peek, see if you fancy them.

TTFN!
