sugar and spice

Ok well, please excuse the terrible pun, but this contribution is an altered frame. Take one plain wood frame, this is a Willkinsons 12" x 12" pine decoupage one, ideal for presenting layouts. I painted it with two or three coats of acrylic white metallic paint to get the level of coverage I wanted. Then, on with the stamping! Using the tiny scribble flower from the Scribble Sentiments range, I went over the frame in a random pattern, allowing some of the flowers to go over the edge for interest. I used Versafine, which had the advantage of giving a nice crisp image but did dry slowly, but that allowed me to use a wet wipe and remove any mistakes as I went along. If you want a quicker solution you might try Stazon. I then inked a chipboard corner swirl, and covered it in a thick layer of glossy accents to give it a real shine, adding it with more glossy accents to the frame and then topping off with a layered flower with a brad centre. I love finding different ways of using things (as you know!) and this card is no exception! My dragonflies wings were from the fab Scribble Flowers set of Sugar and Spice stamps. Once I picked which petals I wanted to use I then used the masking technique to only stamp out those petals not the whole flower. This is achieved simply by covering the piece of the stamp that you don't want with a piece of paper and the inking the rest. Ta dah! His body was made with a few stitches and a little bit of bling for his trail. Because the yummy paper had swirls on I couldn't resist using the tiny swirl stamp from the Alpha stamp set and I thought the 'Hello' just finished it off. I have a couple of things to show you today as my sugar and spice stamp sets have sure been busy over the past few weeks, as I've been stamping away due to having quite a few birthday's in July and August :) I made the following card for a friend using the happy birthday and circle scallop stamps from the 'In a word' set and the medium and small flower stamps from the 'Scribble flowers' set. I stamped the happy birthday stamp using a clear 'perfect medium' ink pad from Ranger and embossed the image with olive embossing powder. I then used the circle scallop stamp to make the tag border. I finished by stamping the flowers onto co-ordinating cardstock and attaching to the tag. I also used the heart flower and small circle stamps from the 'Made with love and laughter' set to make a very special lady (aka my Mum :) ) a little extra pressie. My niece Laura, has beautiful almond shaped eye's, that she is learning to use on us her family to get just what she wants. So what a lovely tool to use as the subject for my little square book. I used the Fancy Flourishes and Clear Alphabet stamps from the Sugar and Spice clear stamps range. 2 x 3.5" pieces of card, covered with contrasting papers, 3 ribbon hinges and punched holes threaded with the same ribbon tied in a bow forms the fastening. The surprise is when you open it. A pretty little pop-up book. This was inspired by a little book that I saw whilst on holiday in Suffolk. Embellishments glued to one side of the crease float as you open and close the book. Open the book fully and tie the covers together and it forms a pretty little square ornament for the coffee table. The pages are quite easy. A 12 x 12 heavy paper cut into 4 6 x6 squares. Each square is then folded in half on the vertical and horizontal. Seens as the summer is here (or should I say was??) and we might be attempting to craft outside, the only downside is the breeze! So here is a cute little paperweight to hold down your loose bits of paper! It was inspired by a few things... by these in the garden... round perfectly smooth stones which are perfect for a paperweight! And the yellow was inpsired by Nina, while the butterfly was insired by Jayne! Thanks ladies :) I used the stamp set Made with love and laughter for this project. I painted my stone in yellow and to get the lovely sheen I coated the top with alittle modge podge. It also will give it alittle more 'chip' protection. I then stamped the little solid circles on with stazon. Because the surface isn't flat, I find it easier to use my finger tip as the acrylic block. Your stamps will cling if they are extra clean (spruce them up in alittle fairy liquid and warm water) Using your finger means you can then mould the stamp around the stones surface. I h...

Hi everyone, just back from cornwall after an eight hour drive.............I ask myself why do we do it when I could have been in Florda like Marion in the same time. Anyway the answer is because its beautiful, and I have some fab photos to prove it that I can't wait to scrapbook!!!!! Here's a quickie card in the mean time................... The stamps I have used for this project are fab to work with as each of the petals are seperate stamps, this enables you to build your flower to any design, the stamps are called PI Build a Flower . I started by stamping one petal in a flower design direct onto the card, I then stamped with another petal design onto a seperate piece of coloured card and cut these out individually. I then attached these to the card inbetween the existing stamped petals.............I personally like dimension on my projects. By adding a fabric flower and a button in the centre of the petals completed the flower perfectly-a lovely sentiment to finish the car...
