Dream Big...

Last Summer, we went to Brighton where my son found this ice-cream that was just about the right size! This photo said it all and was my inspiration for this scrapbook layout. As i'd used a poka dot background i wanted a dotty theme so cut out some large circles from a sheet of scrapbook paper and used some large stick on circle gem things.  Then using the Alphabet Stamp Set i stamped out the words 'yumm' in the large circles and then using the stamp set Lined up, i stamped a border in a matching ink up the side of the photo and along the sentiment, then added a gem into the centres to continue with the theme. Was quite chuffed how it turned out, am getting into this scrapbook alot lately, and as i have tons of photos ready and waiting.... who knows?

Fiesta!

I'm in the process of making a mini album of photos from my 40th Birthday party earlier this year. It was a great night, and fortunately a friend took lots of photos for me as I was a bit preoccupied. As it was a house party the house shaped mini album seemed perfect, one of those purchases you make in the sure and certain knowledge that SOMEDAY it'll come in handy. Kaisercraft do a similar one and lots of other chipboard alterable albums - all of which I covet. I used the tiny cupcake stamp from the Scribble Sentiments range to create this border, appropriate not just because the photo is of the lovely Nina and Marion from Sugar and Spice whose emblem is the cupcake, but because I served over 40 of them for dessert, along with a giant sized version! I scalloped it using a fab technique Marion teaches in one of her classes by using the EK Success Corner punch and removing the guard. The papers I've used are from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey range, that's a cocktail...

Gift box and fabric brads

I love fabric brads and recently saw some packs of self cover buttons in a local sewing shop, and decided to have a go at covering them, in order to make my own fabric brads using my Sugar and Spice stamps.  The buttons are incredibly easy to use, all you need to make your own fabric brads are your stamps, staz on ink and a few scraps of plain fabric. I used the 11mm self cover buttons for my brad (they come in a variety of different sizes).  I followed the instructions on the back and began by cutting the recommended circle shape from my fabric (which was an old white napkin) and stamped the small flower stamp from the Alpha set, colouring it in using stickles.  When dry I added a gem, sewed a running stitch around the edge of  the circle then gathered it up over the self cover button and added the shank on to secure. Here is my finished brad: I then used it to adorn a recycled small pillow box.  I took t...
