As Mother's day is fast approaching, I wanted to make a card for my Mum that looked good but was both quick and easy to do and this is what I came up with:
In order to make my card I used two different coloured ready made card blanks in light gold and ivory colours. I used a border punch to punch along the bottom edge of both the cards, graduating the cut for a layered effect.
I then drew around a circular pot and cut out the shape from the gold card blank only. I lined up the ivory card blank so it fitted inside the gold card and used the cut out shape as a stencil to draw another circle shape. I then stamped the swirl shape from my alpha stamp set around the edge using red versafine ink.
The next step was to use my stamps to make a scallop frame to fit around the outside of my cut out circle on the gold card blank. I did this by using the circle stamp from the love and laughter set. I drew around the same pot on a piece of pink patterned paper and stamped over my drawn line making sure half the stamped circle was outside of the drawn line using a clear pigment ink. I then sprinkled red embossing powder over the image and heated with a heat gun. When cool I cut around the drawn line in order to create my scalloped frame.
I glued my scalloped frame over the cut out circle on my top card blank and glued the second card blank inside the top blank. I decorated the top layer by cutting out and colouring in some transparency shapes and die cut letters spelling Mum. To finish I then attached a bloom on the inside layer inside the stamped circle.
Nic :-)

ReplyDeleteHow lovely is that. This card has depth and textures and the colours are scrummy for Mummy.
