And the yellow was inpsired by Nina, while the butterfly was insired by Jayne! Thanks ladies :) I used the stamp set Made with love and laughter for this project.
I painted my stone in yellow and to get the lovely sheen I coated the top with alittle modge podge. It also will give it alittle more 'chip' protection. I then stamped the little solid circles on with stazon. Because the surface isn't flat, I find it easier to use my finger tip as the acrylic block. Your stamps will cling if they are extra clean (spruce them up in alittle fairy liquid and warm water) Using your finger means you can then mould the stamp around the stones surface.
I hand drew little stitches around the base. I used a large black felt flower, cut from the felt we sell in the shop and handstiched long stitches along the length of the petals. Using the open flower from the same set I stamped onto cream cardstock and cut out, curling the petal edges upwards with my nail. I finished the centre off with a weenie yellow felt flower and a large black gem (also available in the shop!).
Using the same flower stamp, I stamped this time onto acetate using stazon ink and cut out four petals to form the butterflies wings. I coloured the wings with a sakura stardust pen, just to give her a little shimmer! Her body was bent upwards and attached using a generous blob of glossy accents. I then used some of the self adhesive pearls to make her body and hand drew with a permanent pen her little antenas.
Make yourself a paperweight and then enjoy some summery, outdoor crafting!
Thanks for looking,

Beautiful. I have tons of stones dotted around the house. Little piles of them on windowsills. I have a strange love of 'pretty' stones. Problem is now I will be bringing the plain boring ones home to paint too. x
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea Polly - I love it :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Polly, think I will have a go with the pebbles I brought home from my holiday

I have to decorate a pebble for my 8 year old niece - she found it on the beach last week while we were at Norfolk! Thanks Polly!
