Love is in the air

Hello peeps My turn again :) Its nearly upon us.......Valentines!!!!!! I thought as its my first valentines with my new man I would make his card. I layered some burgundy card onto a black card blank and used a Jenni Bowlin Kiss bingo card as the main feature of the card. I added some black ribbon and finshed the embellishments off with some black adhesive gems. I used the With Love and hearts stamps from the SCRIBBLE SENTIMENTS CLEAR STAMPS Hope you like Louise xxx

Funky Flowers

Hi All, hope your all well and enjoyed Christmas, which seems so long ago now! I had to make a card for a friend of mine, whose birthday it is this month, and dint want to do the usual 'birthday' card, so decided to do something slightly different. Although ive used scrapbook papers for the main design, i used the sentiment from the Funky Flowers stamp set , which i must admit, has to be one of my fav stamp sets, as its just so cute. After creating this style of card (which for the life of me i have forgotten whats its called???) and then using a punch to create the border, it just needed finishing with a simple sentiment, which i used from the stamp set. So, thats my post for the time being, till next time, take care Nicki x

HI FROM CHA.....

Well today's the last day :( before I tell you about the yummies en route I'll give you a little low down on the Californian cuisine.... Oh where to start... Well first of all there's the cheesecake factory, now we HAD to make to two trips to this one, it truly is the BEST, we NEED one in the UK. I had the most juiciest steak at the Outback last night, had Italian at Buca Di Beppo (the most eclectic restaurant I've ever been in. I think half of CHA were there that night including Mr Holtz and Ms Helmuth etc. Also visited Fire & Ice, on recommendation. That was fantastic such a great concept oh yeah and the food was great too. Needless to say the 6lb I lost before I went away has probably gone back on again and again and again!!! OK enough of my munching. Here's what's going to be winging it's way to SUGAR AND SPICE HEIDI GRACE ... yay she's back!! COLORBOK HAMBLY SCREEN PRINTS... Just LUSH!!! BELLA BLVD... can't get enough of this PINK PAISLEE S...

Cupcake Crazy Part 1

Afternoon ladies. I hope you're over that horrid bit just after Christmas and now feeling ready to grab 2010 by the horns and scrap it til it's head spins! Its one of my best friend's birthdays in January and I sometimes think she gets a bit neglected with all the post Christmas malais. So I wanted her to feel special, she also scraps and for that reason the gift needed to include something handmade for her. Here, I've used brown paper to wrap her pressie but have stamped it with go lden cupcakes to make it unique. Taking some cream ribbon saved from Amazon wrapped presents at Christmas, I repeated the theme this time using the tiny cupcake stamp but again in gold. To cover the ribbon joins and finish off the effect, I cut a circle of matt gold card using my new Cricut, punched a scalloped circle from the brown paper and stamped another cupcake on that, mounting it on little foam pads for dimension. I don't think I'm quite up to making my own wrapping pap...

Storing your stamps

How do you store your clear stamps?  Well up until very recently, mine were stored in a pocket in my tote but as they keep multiplying (hhmmm, wonder how they do that?! ;-) ) I began to have a bit of a problem.  I wanted something that would enable me to store them in their sets, so I thought I would have a go at making a book with laminated inserts in which I can store all my clear stamp sets.  Here is the finished book: It's really quick and easy to make something similar, I began by making a couple of inserts for my book so I had an idea of how big I should make the covers.  I cut a 5.5" length by 5" width piece of white card and stamped one of my stamp sets directly onto the card using black versafine ink.  I then punched out a tab and glued it to the side of the sheet so I can write the name of the stamp set on it for easy reference.  I then used a laminator to laminate my stamped card and cut around the edges.  I can then pl...

Love Squares

As we all know St Valentines day is round the corner and for me and my Hubby this is a very special day as its our wedding anniversary, I know, aren't we romantic! Anyway I thought I would be organized and make him a card for both occasions. Using the Fat n Funky Sugar and Stamps, I stamped and heat embossed the word love on over four squares. I always forget about heat embossing but when I do it I fall in love again! In the middle of the card, I have used the Cute as a Button Heart button stamp. I Poked the middle of the button holes out with a poky tool and tied some ribbon through to give the effect of a real button. Take a closer look at the embossing - mmmmm nice! Using small squares is a good way of using up scraps that you might have in your stash and can look really effective. Love and Bugs Nina

Happy Blooming Birthday

A simple birthday card with a simple message. "Happy Birthday" turned into flowers. I love the scribble look and using inks as water colours. With this type of affect it doesn't matter if you paint over the lines, or your scribble at first, looks naff. that is the beauty of it. It's make believe. The funky flowers with a couple of petals removed become flutterbyes carrying a garland of "Happy". There is glamour dust sprinkled on the flutterbyes and letters; I just cant resist using glamour dust just to give it that fairytale feel. The funky flowers could also be little fairies. That's an idea. I'm off to make a fairy card now. Happy card making ladies.

The Real Santa

Hi everyone, just got back from a lovely fresh walk, the sun is shining and the snow has gone, wonderful. Its hard to believe that christmas and the new year was only a few weeks ago. One good thing to came out of all that snow, I was home alot and I actually managed to do some layouts...........yey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On this layout I made a wreath embelishment by punching out some holly leaves and layering them up around a circle that I had also punched out. By adding some red stones and a bow (this I made from some ribbon I salvaged from a cracker), I was pleased with the outcome that I had made from scraps. The title on the page I used some felt alphabets, these I love for the different texture, and of course the santa was stamped with my favorite alphabet stamps from sugar and spice, Fat and Funky Alpha. I hope your all enjoying your sunny sunday. Happy crafting Px

Easy peasy!

Hello! New year, new projects, more birthdays! This little book is for my mum, its her birthday you see. I love to make little projects like this for birthdays.Easy peasy to make, a projects that you can do in an evening. To make a simple book like this all you need to do is mount your photos on a piece of card stock slightly bigger than your photos, make the cover from chipboard, which is the same size as you mounts and cover it in patterned paper. Then you can let your creativity flow! All of this is held together with book rings. I also added jouro spots and blocks which is held in with the book rings. I couldn't resist adding a little something to the photos, Sugar and Spice - Cute as a button stamps which needs to be stamped using Staz On ink which allowes you to stamp on non porous surfaces. Ta da! Loves and Bugs Nina x

Build a flower

I love to make my own embellishments to use on both my cards and my scrapbook pages, whilst there are lots of beautiful embellishments on the market out there, I think there is always something extra special about creating your own embellishments - they are unique, you can adapt / match them to your project (and you can recreate as many as you want at a fraction of the cost!!)  For today's project I chose to use three of the stamps from the Sugar and Spice 'love and laughter' set to make a handmade flower embellishment which I've used on this birthday card: The Love and Laughter set is one of my favourite sugar and spice sets - to make my flower I've used both the shadow flower stamp and the overlying petal stamp.  I stamped the shadow shape onto red patterned card using crimson versafine ink, then stamped the petal shape twice onto matching pink paper. I cut around the shadow shape and the first petal shape.   For the ...

IT'S SNOW FUN

not when you're trying to get into work anyway. I may make it in for a couple of hours today, but with more snow forcast for this afternoon it seems unlikely. Although with all the supplies and food in the shop it wouldn't be a bad place to get snowed into . LOL !!! If you're off work take this opportunity to get some great winter wonderland shots and then SCRAP them. After all what else is there to do whatever you do have fun and take care xxxx

A New Year

Well a Happy New year to you all, I feel it's going to be a good one. An appolagy for posting a day late but yesterday seemed to run away with me after a late night and a very long lay in....................but I'm sure I wasn't the only one. My first project of the year. The layout was created by using templates. I found them in my cupboard just before christmas-it still amazes me how I collect crafting accessories and seem to lose them in a cupboard and forget I even have them! The title was stitched using silver thread after the paper was pierced using a stitching alphabet template. I also used a doodling template for the scrolls and then added some bling for dimension. And finally the year was stamped on with some number stamps from sugar and spice called Happy Birthday With a Cherry on the Top . Again a very happy new year to you all and Happy Crafting P x
